Palm Springs
Last month, in September, we held our first ever Film Camp. It is a workshop created by 4 family film photographers, that specialize in different ways to shoot film, geared to anyone wanting to learn to photograph families. It was a 4 day retreat that covered shooting in different lighting scenarios, using various techniques to create gorgeous images, specific shoots lead by each instructor that showed how they work with clients to create gorgeous photographs, business roundtable, hanging out, great food, making new friends, and so much more!
This was a sunset shoot led by the amazing Julie Guertin, who is known for her gorgeous, creative images using film soup. She shared with us how she creates her striking images with knowing the film will be made into “soup” later on that day. It is always such a wonderful experience to see how other photographers photograph sessions with clients. Listening to how they explain their own process and what they look for as they are shooting is truly fascinating to me. Even though I was an instructor at this retreat I learned so much from the other teachers and I can’t wait until the next Film Camp to soak more in!
I photographed this beautiful family with Kodak Ektar film and it truly shows how wonderful and versatile this film is. It is amazing that a film with such a low ISO, 100, can capture sunset so magnificently. This film was developed and scanned by the wonderful Richard Photo Lab, who was our sponsor for Film Camp!
I will be back in Palm Springs this February if anyone would like to book a session with your family.
